The painting “Swallows” was made by Tadeusz Makowski in 1931. It belongs to the collection of the National Museum in Cracow.
He was a Polish painter active in Paris. He painted in the style of the École de Paris. He lived in the years 1882-1932. A frequent subject of his paintings were children in life, rural, carnival or theater scenes.
“Swallows” is one of the artist’s most subtle paintings. The main characters are children looking at swallows. Birds sit and circle over power lines. The theme of the scene is very simple, but the artist managed to capture the naive delight of the little ones and the joy of the coming spring.
