The notebook presents the painting „In the gazebo” made by Aleksander Gierymski in 1882 year. It belongs to the collection of the National Museum in Warsaw.
Polish representative of realism, precursor of impressionism, painter, draftsman. He lived in the years 1850-1901. He spent many years of his life in Rome, perfecting his craft and studying Italian painting.
The painting announcing the impressionist trend in the artist’s biography, shows a social meeting in 18th-century costumes taking place in a gazebo. The author showed the interaction of light and color. The synthesis of textures and meticulous observation of nature allowed the artist to create a painting in protest against the “labeled” painter of the life of the poorest classes.
