The notebook presents the painting “Marysia and Burek in Ceylon” made by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz in 1920. It belongs to the collection of the National Museum in Cracow.
The artist worked under the pseudonym “Witkacy”. He was a famous Polish painter, writer, philosopher, playwrighter and photographer. He lived in the years 1885-1939. A visionary ahead of his time, and at the same time a painfully matter-of-fact mocker.
It alludes to the artist’s journey to Ceylon and Australia. The three heroes are shown in a rocky landscape, between them there is a form reminiscent of spinel.
